Dog Obedience Training

Dog obedience training is the single most important factor in the longevity of your relationship with your new friend. Owning a puppy in the early weeks is a joyful bonding experience, but puppies grow into young dogs that are full of energy and require guidance. Whether your puppy is sixteen weeks to six months or an adult dog, Lead the Way K9 Training has a program to turn your problem pup into a model canine.

Signs Your Dog Needs Obedience Training

The nipping, barking, and rough play that was cute as a puppy becomes less so as your dog gets older, heavier, and stronger. Perhaps he or she has picked up "counter surfing" habits or hasn't quite mastered the art of walking politely on a leash. Maybe your beloved pooch is easily distracted and runs off, in spite of your best efforts to get him or her to come when called. Conversely, your dog may be shy and exhibiting anxiety. Whatever challenges you're facing, consistent training is the key to reversing negative behaviors and replacing them with positive habits.

Dog Obedience Programs

When choosing the right obedience program for your pet, it's important to consider your willingness and ability to commit to the daily task of training.

With a boarding program for adult dogs or puppies, the foundational work can be done for you by professionals who can teach you how to maintain the training at home. We begin the training for your dog with the foundation of a consistent daily routine. We also incorporate daily doses of socialization and supervised play time. Skills are taught to owners in a two-hour go-home session, including recall (come) and come commands, waiting at thresholds, waiting for food, sit and place commands, and on- and off-leash training.
